It’s about the dancing, right? The reason I watch movies like “Step Up Revolution” is because I desire to be in awe of brilliant choreography and skillful dance technique.
Yep, that’s it! I am in it for the performance. Therefore, although the acting may not have been Oscar worthy, the movie was a complete and utter dance show. “So You Think You Can Dance on Steroids” is another way, I’d describe it. The choreography was outside the box and the Miami backdrop was refreshing. Not to mention, the plot wasn’t too shabby either.
Prior to the movie I read reviews that pretty much gave the film; “thumbs-down” but do you trust the critics? I usually don’t. I prefer to judge for myself, and I am sure glad that I did.
I went to see a dance movie with thrilling performances, and that’s what I got. I left the movie theater singing along to the soundtrack and ready to enlist in a dance class or two. I would even go as far to say that it surpassed the 3rd in the series. All in all the 4th installment of “Step Up” was a steady B+, according to this Film Buff.
